"Cold" means different things to different people...

I had some funny conversations with my mom about what "cold" means. For people in Miami, it doesn't take much to be cold, while the folks here in Tennessee think 25 degrees F. is pretty darn cold. The folks in Canada, meanwhile, sniker at the folks in Tennessee.

So here's this:

60 -Californians put on sweaters(if they can find one in their wardrobe)
50 -Miami residents turn on the heat
40 -You can see your breath, Californians shiver uncontrollably Minnesotans go swimming.
35 -Italian cars don't start
32 -Water freezes
30 -You plan your vacation to Australia, Minnesotans put on T-shirts, Politicians begin to worry about the homeless, British cars don't start
25 -Boston water freezes, Californians weep pitiably, Minnesotans eat ice cream, Canadians go swimming
20 -You can hear your breath, Politicians begin to talk about the homeless, New York City water freezes, Miami residents plan vacation further south
15 -French cars don't start, You plan a vacation in Mexico, Cat insists on sleeping in your bed with you 10 -Too cold to ski, You need jumper cables to get your car going
5 -You plan your vacation in Houston, American cars don't start
0 -Alaskans put on T-shirts, too cold to skate
-10 -German cars don't start, Eyes freeze shut when you blink
-15 -You can cut your breath and use it to build an igloo, Arkansas residents stick tongues to metal objects, Miami residents cease to exist
-20 -Cat insists on sleeping in your pajamas with you, Politicians actually do something about the homeless, Minnesotans shovel snow off roof, Japanese cars don't start
-25 -Too cold to think, You need jumper cables to get driver going
-30 -You plan a two week hot bath, The Mighty Monongajela freezes. Swedish cars don't start
-40 -Californians disappear, Minnesotans button top button, Canadians put on sweaters, your car helps you plan your trip south
-50 -Congressional hot air freezes, Alaskans close the bathroom window
-60 -Hell freezes over, Polar bears move south!!

Absolutely - Mild in MN means freezing anywhere else!

Luckily, we're about the temp that Minnesotans go swimming today. Very funny!

I bet my Japanese car would start at -40. Not that I'm going to go anywhere that cold to find out. Ah, California! Might have to wear long sleeves today.

Happy Inappropriate Card Day!

Well being that I was raised in Southern Fl. I think anything under 65 degrees is cold and the perfect temp is 75. Very Funny!

cj: People from MN are insane!

g: Hey there! Not bad, though I wouldn't go swimming...

diesel: I bet you're right about the japanese car thing. I have one and thank goodness it's practically indestructable; I'm not very mechanically inclined.
Californians need to be forced to live in Minnesotta for a week, btw.

hmbt: I lived in Miami until I went to college so I know where you're coming from... First time I moved north, it was Chicago. Boy was I in for a rude awakening!

Cute.

People in New Orleans think 30 degrees is outrageous.

Drop by sometime would ya?

I lived in Michigan for 22 years. It was enough! And not being mechanically inclined is exactly why I have a Japanese car. :)

Hey Pavel! I live in Canada :) Where we live, it's currently -1.5 degrees Celcius as I type this...which is MILD! LOL! It was +2 earlier today. It can get to the -20s or lower sometimes, but in the summer, it's gets to +30 or more. We go from cold in the winter to sweltering hot in the summer!

The funny thins is that in the fall, right after the summer heat waves, +10 seems COLD (and we wear our sweaters). However, in the spring, when we're coming up from the cold weather, +10 celcius seems HOT (and we wear shorts and t-shirts)! Crazy Canucks, eh? LOL!

Rebecca: I just did!

Diesel: If you lived in Michigan, say no more. I visited Michigan a couple of time in the winter while I was in college. It's seriously cold in Michigan...

Chrissy: I see what you mean... It all depends. But yes, crazy Canucks! (smile)
