Fun on Wednesdays...
Yesterday was Church night and the kids love their Church activities. The program their in combines a mixture of physical activities, study, prayer, and just plain fun to learn Bible truths and the kids just LOVE it. They want to come early, stay until the last possible moment, memorize their verses, etc...
The little guy's class went to the local park's splash pad for an hour of great fun with his classmates! They were given these little sponges so that they can soak them with water and spray each other.
I did notice my little buddy standing next to the same little girl A LOT! Hmmm...
At least the girl's parents know the my little man is a churchgoing guy. (smile)
I don't know about this. I don't think I'm ready to give the "birds and the bees" lecture yet.

Cute!
Yeah that birds n' bees lecture is a tough one. I sent my hub to do it when each guy was about 10...they came back white as a ghost. It never seems (to us parents) like they are ready to hear the facts but it's better they get the news from us than from friends...or Heaven forbid, the internet. GAAAH!
A healthy girl/boy friendship is a great thing to have anyways.
I hate that talk and it's never really over, it just grows and changes as the kids too. Even as a grandmother now I still find myself having that talk!
What fun! Sometimes I wish I was still a kid.
The Birds and the bees is not a big deal...just a fact for the living...keep it age appropriate no need for slide shows or examples...but my boys grew up with the birds and the bees from the first time they asked about it. (about 3) Never one to not directly answer a question, I just laid it out for them...and my oldest is 18, so I've been doing this for many years. All of them don't care at this point...it's just what it is...a fact of life is all.
Great pictures! OMG it's been such a hot summer! Have a good one.:)
I think you can wait on the birds and the bees lecture for awhile - but not too long. Amazing how young they pick things up from other sources (i.e. older kids).
I like the sponge idea for water play. Safe and fun.
Cute: Well, I don't think I'll mind too much giving the lecture to
my boys but I'll probably turn white as a ghost and pass out if I had to tell my girl. I'll start practicing now and maybe I'll be ready in a few years.
rising rainbow: So it doesn't get easier, huh? wonderful...
Thanks for stopping by!
Myutopia: I'm with you. You know what I don't get? How kids get naps in school, but they don't want naps, but adults don't get naps at work, but we do!
hmbt: You're right about the summer! I want it to be over and lets get some cold air over here.
Slide shows?! aaaggghh!!!!
beth: I skipped you. So sorry.
Yeah, the sponge idea was great, I thought. You can't really hurt each other with a sponge.
As for how much they pick up, it's scary. Movies like "High School Musical" don't help.
Ooh fun! Looks hot over there, we haven't had much of a chance for playing with water over here - it's been a very strange summer this year.
It's never too early for the Birds and the Bees, better they hear it from you than from someone else. They usually know more than you think anyway, and the younger they are the less embarrassed they'll be by the whole thing. I started telling my kids about this stuff when they were small, and they take it very naturally.
Such cute pix! My boy has always had a best "girl" friend since about 3 years of age. It's funny how he's always just gravitated to one particular girl, every year! They aren't girlfriends though, he's made that pretty clear LOL!
We haven't approached the birds n beez talk yet, although I'm thinking we may talk with him sooner rather than later (his little sister has started a little show and tell now that she's doing well at toilet training :)- that's sort of our dilemma now!.
We've been talking about the birds and the bees ever since they noticed that mom and dad looked different from each other. If you make it no big deal, then it won't be.
Adorable shots of your baby and his little friend.
Your little one is ADORABLE!
Theresa: Thanks for the advice, mi amiga. I need to remember to take it easy, not too much on the details, and try and be natural...
Got it!
You might not have gottena chance to play in water but you did get to go to a foreign country!
karen meg: Toilet training show and tell??? Gosh, that would be a small problem.
acton bell: wow! Haven't seen you around these parts in a bit. thanks for visiting and thanks for complimenting my monkeys!!!
susan: Thanks for the advice. I'll need it!
c: Thank you!
I liked this one! Oh no...the birds and the bees, huh? I'd love to read a post when you finally get to talk to him about those birds and the bees!
What a little ladies' man. She's a cutie too. :)
great photos!
he is too cute for words...I bet that little girl agrees too ;)
I left the birds and bees lecture up to the hubs but being raised around all kinds of animals, our oldest pretty much already knew about the birds and the bees.
Louann: You can bet I'll blog about it!
Diesel: He sure knows how to pick 'em!
Barngoddess: So you're saying I should buy some farm animals and avoid the conversation??? (smile)
Hi Pavel,
In browsing through your recent(ish) posts, I couldn't help but notice the similarities between your late August blog post and mine. Photographically, anyway.
Hopefully you're getting email alerts. :)
Hillary: Oh, I just saw your August stuff and yes! I love watching kids play outside, in water, etc...
