Waking up the kids for school...

... shouldn't be so hard!

Well, it's not hard for all three of them, really. The boys get up and are dressed in ready to go in no time, but that's because they have "stuff" they want to do. The oldest one wants to get up and have enough time to play a round or two on his Playstation, while the little buddy absolutely just LOVES school and can't wait to get there. (He must have a girlfriend or something!) Really, he loves doing all his work and can't wait to show me his test scores. It's like surreal!

It's my girl who is NOT a morning person. That girl will not get out of bed and will lie about being dressed but just being under the covers. Last time, I lifted the bedsheets and there she was, in her pj's with her school clothes under the bedsheets as well. She said she wanted to get dressed under the covers because it was too cold, and I FELL FOR IT!

Sheesh...

Any ideas? What have you done that has worked for you in the past?

I hope you all had a wonderful Valentine's Day with your sweethearts!

So you mean the air horn is wrong? Dang! I'll have to rethink this parenting thing..

My boy is 14 months old so he gets up and hollers for me until I drag my tired arse in there.

That valentine is HYSTERICAL!!!

My mom used to come in our rooms in the morning cheerfully singing and putting away laundry. We'd beg for her to stop, but she was like the energizer bunny. So eventually we get up to avoid her perkyness. hehe.

I bought Miss Pinky her own alarm clock!! Works like a charm. She was slow, to get up, but now she's just slow around the house. But at least she is up!

We have good days and bad days, but in general our kids wake up reasonably well...unless there's a math test. ;)

barngoddess: So I should give her a cup of joe? (smile)

hilary: No, absolutely not! Whatever works for you; airhorn it is, then!

annie: It sounds like your alarm clock works fine!

pinky: You know, that isn't such a bad idea. I'm going to Walmart and get them one... Thanks!

Theresa: Hey, can you blame them? I wouldn't want to get out of bed if there was a math test either!

An airhorn would be too much of a jolt to *my* system. I prefer to threaten with my handy dandy squirt bottle. Seriously.

You only have to really use it a couple times.

That bullhorn picture is fun-ny. Don't show this to Scissors okay? He is the morning person in our house and suffers daily so he may just want to borrow that. Tali actually does get dressed under her blankets in the dead of winter which seems to last through...June.

trish: you tried the airhorn, didn't you?

susan: I tried the "threat" of using the water squirter, and it worked! Thanks!!!

g: hee hee. I'll hide it from scissors for now. (smile) So dressing under the sheets is popular, huh?

What are you busy devising the perfect alarm clock? Time for a post I say!
