Happy 4th of July, y'all!!!

I know, I'm posting this on the 5th, but Hey; I was busy yesterday!
Actually, no, not really, I didn't have the kids this weekend so I didn't spend the 4th with them, which is just as well. It rained on us over here so it was a washout.
So what did I do? I spent the morning reading Homer's "The Odyssey." I have no idea what possessed me, but you know what? It's one heck of a good story! (I think I read a few chapters back in high school, but I didn't pay attention AT ALL and didn't remember a thing.)
Hope you all did better than me. How did you spend your 4th?

I nursed a hangover because my girlyfriend (who spent the night the night b/f) and I decided it would be fun to perfect buttery nipples at home. um, yeah...not so much. Well it was fun at the time, but the 4th for me was a lazy blur. Girlyfriend left around noon, hubby went to work, munchkin napped and I moaned and then we went to KFC. wooooooo! What a holiday. ;)

Hmmmm let me think...... oh yeah I was in hospital and then they finally let me go home! So it was a neat day, thanks for asking. LOL Your day sounded quite nice anyway. I love to read, but just lately I have had no time or inclination to settle down to a good book. I took one to hospital but never read a word. derrrrrr

We didn't do anything for the 4th, we don't think it's about shooting off 100's of dollars of fireworks to be proud Americans. We think that every holiday has become a money making, force it down your gullet capitalist machine. We as a family are not part of that machine. we had a great time though, watching movies, eating too much and being sweetly asleep before the fireworks even began.

Wow! Homer's "Odyssey"! That was one of my all time favorite books when I was growing up. I think I read it a dozen times! :)

I spent the 4th with family from out of town. We didn't actually "celebrate" since we celebrated our Canada Day on the 1st :) However, there are TONS of Americans on the Island right now, so there were in fact some July 4th celebrations. When I went to the grocery store yesterday, we saw license plates from Florida, West Virginia, Ohio, Illinois, and even as far as California! For a small island, we sure get a lot of American (and European) tourists...but hardly any Canadians know about this place!

We had a pretty quiet one. Didn't even stay out for the fireworks. Went inside for a cuddle instead :) Had a long and lazy weekend! And I finished one of the books I'd been reading. Eat. Pray. Love.

Love LOVED it! I have a new blog site, come check me out :)

I've gone back to reading old highschool books too and they make a whole lot more sense to me now than they ever did back then . . .

Not a whole hell of a lot really. I had a nice treat to wake me up, spent it in the in-laws with nice, loud and annoying in-laws, blew up some fireworks and then went home to bed. Autumn had fun so it's all good.

Really good book. Last time I read it was around Christmas time while at work at Carnival. It's really slow around that time. Most of the time 2 hours or more will go by before you get another call.

Annie: I was going to ask what you meant by perfecting buttery nipples, but I'm afraid of the answer. (smile)
Sounds like you had a good time, though...

chris h: bless you!!! I'm glad you're home and hopefully resting.

hmbt: You're right. It seems like all the holidays involve spending lavish amounts of cash to set up for them. sheesh. Glad you had such great family times!

c: You know, I've already said I have to go and visit that beautiful island of yours. Glad you had fun!

autumn's mom: That sounded wonderful, just chilling out at home.
I'll have to go see your new place soon...

trish: ROFL!!! Ain't that the truth! It does make more sense to read that stuff after you've had some life experiences and not when you're mostly worried about dating and stuff...

Orlando: That sounds good, Autumn having a good time and all. Better get used to the loud and annoying in laws...

I still need to read the Odyssey. Somebody sentenced me to read it when I was doing the Make Diesel Read thing. Of course, I never made it through the book you recommended either....

Did you finish it all in one day? ; D

I haven't read that since HS, either. I need to put it on my list.

Diesel: If you're going to read it, pick one of the newer more modern "English" versions. They make a lot more and sense and you don't have to think as hard!

Nessa: lol... No, I started on the third and it took a few days...
